Chicago Cubs Opening Day Issues

As the weather gets warmer and St Patty’s day is upon us, that means one thing. Baseball is upon us! While watching some Spring Training Games on the Marquee Network, I saw some potential decisions that have to be made before opening day!
With just two weeks left to finalize the opening day roster, comes some issues.
The 26th Man Issue– The Cubs have a few choices as their 26th man of the roster.
Jason Kipnis- Remember him? The Chicagoland born player that faced against the Cubs in the World Series? Yep- he is on the Chicago Cubs now. Will he take the 26th spot?
Ian Miller- This guy is FAST! He stole 243 bases in seven minor league seasons. With that speed he could be a great lead-off hitter…maybe?
Josh Phegley- Josh hit 12 Home Runs with 314 at bats with the Oakland Athletics last year.
The Fifth Starter– Tyler Chatwood Vs Alec Mills.
During this spring training (statistically speaking) Alec Mills has outperformed Chatwood. Chatwood reveals that he would need to get physically accustomed to starting. His 96 MPH fast ball has gotten him out of some jams. Mills is out of minor-league options but can handle long-relief duties with more resiliency than Chatwood. The Cubs don’t need a fifth starter until March 31, so Chatwood and Mills could work out of the bullpen for the opener before Chatwood likely returns to the rotation.
Excited to see what the decisions will be for opening day!!
