Chicago Cubs Quick takes: Summer Camp Edition

The Chicago Cubs lost the first round of the Cross Town Classic to the Chicago White Sox falling 7-3.

Here are a couple take aways from the game:

Rizzo out, Caratini in

Anthony Rizzo was out for the first game of exhibition due to lower back tightness. Victor Caratini was named the starter. Nico Horner started at 2nd base and Kipnis was at DH.

Jason Kipnis (The local kid) with the first at bat went yard with a solo home run to put the Cubs ahead 1-0

Pitching

Kyle Hendricks was dominating the game. He threw a total of four scoreless innings. The changeup was looking VERY solid. David Ross took out Hendricks a little too early.

Jharel Cotton did not do well under pressure. He gave up three consecutive doubles. The White Sox took the lead 5-2.

Final Takeaways

Excited for opening day! It is all about trial and error. The Cubs will get it right and get it tight.
