What a day for Spring Training baseball! It is still pretty early in Spring training, but the Cubs brought their A game. “Play to Win.
The Cubs win 16-3 over the Giants and this is the type of baseball I love to see! This game did not include Kris Bryant. so imagine how much more powerful this would be!
The hitting was on point where the Cubs slammed 7 hits in a 5 run- 2nd inning! The aftermath: Giants pitcher Johnny Cueto has a 12.79 ERA this Spring Training! Sheeessh! In the 3rd inning, the Cubs scored 3 more runs.
The pitching looked impressive! Tyler Chatwood was pitching lights out! He only allowed 3 hits, 0 runs and 4 strike outs.
The Cubs then added a pair of solo homers. The notable home run was from Wilson Contrearas. He went YARD! Check it out:
Duane Underwood Jr allowed all 3 of the Giants run in the 5th. This is not good regarding his case of getting on the rotation. The dark horse candidate would be Rex Brothers. He was efficient and threw a 1-2-3 inning.
Next game, Cubs return to Sloan Park against the Padres at 8:05 PM CST. Yu Darvish vs Cal Quantrill. Coverage will be on Marquee Network.
