What a game that was. This team is just so fun to watch and their offensive execution was flawless. Zach Lavine & Coby White make history as the only duo to ever score 8+ 3 pointers in a game and the Chicago Bulls (10-13) set a franchise record with 25 3’s made (on 53.2% shooting) in the game. Lavine & White combined to score 76 points (46 for Lavine & 30 for White) to help the Bulls win 129-116. Lavine now has three straight games scoring 35 or more points in a row and has just been sensational. If it wasn’t for his blown game-tying layup last game, this would be quite the stretch for Lavine.
The Bulls started the game off blazing scoring 44 points and taking a 44-34 lead at the end of the first quarter on 84% shooting and making 10-11 3’s. Adding to this, Lavine started the quarter off with 20 points, 5 3 pointers, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. Even after this scorching start, the Bulls still ended up trailing 74-66 at halftime. The Bulls came back in the third quarter and put up another 40 point quarter but the most impressive feat was their defense in this quarter. They held the Pelicans to 9 points with 90 seconds left in the quarter and finished with 14 points to the Bulls 41. The Bulls never looked back after this en route to their victory.
Coby White was shooting lights out as well putting up 30 points behind 8 3 pointers of his own. Denzel Valentine played great as well chipping in 4 3’s of his own scoring 16 points for the game and has now scored double figures for the 5th time in a row while averaging 14.8 ppg during the stretch. The Bulls will consistently need this scoring output for the near future with their starting front court of Lauri Markkanen & Wendell Carter Jr. missing.
The Bulls next take on the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night.
